Message from the Community

Making Ourselves Matter Services Society (MOMSS) has received an incredible outpouring of support to ensure that this new level of service is initiated. The message has been clear – British Columbians want hope to be reinstated within their communities. A donor purchased rural property where we will offer our program. Local community members have rallied together – rebuilding the residence, furnishing it, and creating connections with business and social agencies in support of it. Six college trade classes have participated in the renovation project as well. In addition, we were given an outreach van to provide residents with access to additional services in the community plus a truck that will prove to be a valuable asset on the acreage. Our progress has been made possible by supporters and partners who share a passion for our cause.

The Prince George community itself has put forward more than 42,000 volunteer hours towards launching this initiative with that number increasing every day –¬ an extraordinary level of support. All of our donors have supported us as they too have recognized that MOMSS represents hope for those needing a second chance to succeed. Many have also contributed because they were aware of someone themselves who could benefit from such an opportunity, someone they loved, cared for, or knew within their circle of relationships.

We are inspired by the strong and vibrant collaborative response from local social service organizations and professionals, both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal, building relationships based on mutual understanding, respect and collective action toward addressing this service shortfall. A cohesive community of external resources is on board to meet the residents’ personalized needs, building an effective lifelong network for them in sustaining positive change.

This community involvement has been a testimony to the worthiness of this cause.

Our good works are like stones cast into the pool of time; though the stones themselves may disappear, their ripples extend to eternity.
